First bumbo, now boppy. Anna's still too unsteady on her bottom to be left sitting on her own, but this sweet pillow provides enough support to give both mom and baby the independence they crave. Fantastic is right.

On a somewhat serious note- spitting baby food. This evening, Anna decorated herself, her tray and her mom with pureed carrots and oatmeal. She kept all the mushed banana within the span of nose and chin, but then, she really likes bananas. I told her "no" when she splattered and it seemed like she understood the connection between food spraying and nay saying. When Dad came home, he took over and she didn't bespeckle him one time. What is this- playfulness, a bad habit, a dislike for the food, "Mom, I've got your number"??? But she's not even six months! She cannot be honory yet. Can she? Did anyone else deal with thbbting kids?

  1. Oh yes. This mommy definitely gets sprayed from time to time. At first I don't think it was intentional. But now I think she thinks my reaction is funny (which unfortunately occurs before I can stop it). Thankfully she doesn't seem to remember each time she's eating. All I can say is, bring on the adult bibs!

She's enjoying new "talents" and sensations. Exploring food in all its in's and out's (literally!). I wouldn't worry about it yet. It's developementally appropriate behaviour, and sure doesn't sound like defiance. Ellis zerberted like crazy. I think he htought it felt cool. Just...uh...don't wear anything that needs drycleaning. ;-)

  3. No kidding- I dropped off a sweater at the cleaners yesterday. It had been pruned.

  4. Not sure about Anna but having had to feed Wills I am going to offer a comment. Ornery is indeed a proper word choice. Not so much a disrespect of spite but more of a disrepect of "I want to do what I want". Think it was the second time he was fed Will decided that the spoon really was his and as such belonged in his grasp. Unfortunatley it was about this time that he realized as the spoon goes to his mouth he can grab it. He is also very aware that it is something he is not supposed to do but the will of Will is willful. Anna may be sweet but I wouldn't rule out orneriness.
